We are almost there!
In less than five days, voting for America’s Main Street ends, and we hope to be able to share some amazing news with all of you. Be sure to cast your vote every day through May 29!
However, even if we do not emerge as the winner, we want you all to know that you have rallied together to show everyone that Downtown Laurel is a place full of commitment, dreamers, stories, and hometown pride.
We have proven that we are a community of people that can rise strong and support the idea that our town deserves to be the best. Whether we win or not, our mission is the same: to create a vibrant and sustainable Downtown Laurel.
As part of that mission, the Grow Your Business workshop series begins this Thursday.
Equally as important as bringing new businesses to an area is making sure they have everything they need to be successful. That’s why this series exists. Laurel Main Street is utilizing the expertise of its board and partners to give entrepreneurs advice on some of the most important aspects of owning a small business.
Classes will be hosted and organized by Own Your Hill and cover topics such as finance and marketing, because excellence is something for which we all strive. We all want to be the best, and that drive is what makes Downtown Laurel such a unique and powerful community.

Let’s wrap it up, shall we?
The America’s Main Street Contest is almost over, but Downtown Laurel’s growth is just beginning. In the time we have left, every vote counts now more than ever.
We can still show the nation that Laurel is better than the stereotypes and obstacles we face. Celebrate Laurel, its history and its future. Regardless of the results of the competition, we are stronger than ever, and we have an entire summer of community to enjoy.
Bring on the movies and music; bring on Downtown Thursdays!
