And what exactly do I mean by that? Well, I love it when the community can come together and it has nothing to do with a sporting event or anything else competitive. It’s delightful to run into old Friends at a show at the Arabian Theatre, a tea at the YWCO, a program at the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art, an Open House, a concert and the Annual Community Thanksgiving Service that rotates through the downtown area churches. It tells me the Christmas parade and Pancake Day are right around the corner. Fond memories of songs sung and stories told begin to float into my mind. There was the historic (in my mind) Christmas Parade where Becky Windham told me Jonathan Wells had proposed marriage. Another where I not only judged the marching bands atop the “bridge to nowhere” but also helped Santa in and out of the chimney – all during a heat wave with a high in the 90’s! Ah, the South, ya gotta love it, especially the weather! So, here’s to the “most wonderful time of the year”, bring it!
