Things are spicing up as we prepare for our annual chili cook off!

It’s that time again! Our annual Magnolia State Bank Chili Cook Off is Saturday, February 11th! With only 5 weeks until the cook off, now is the time to dust off your pots and drag out the family chili recipe. Recruit a few friends to create your team and you’re good to go for a chance to win one of the coveted first place traveling trophies and $1,000 cash prizes.

Mardi Gras is becoming one of our favorite times in downtown Laurel. Our 2017 Mardi Gras parade will be sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Police, Laurel Lodge #2. The Krewe of Blue Parade is sure to be a great time for the entire family!

Applications are now available. You may pick-up an application from the Laurel Police Department front office; entry fee is $100.00 and will go directly to the F.O.P. in support of charitable endeavors such as Shop with a Cop. Application deadline is February 20th.

This year the parade will be held on February 25th at 2:00 PM. A $500 prize will be awarded to the Krewe with the best Mardi Gras themed float showing the most Mardi Gras spirit!

 

New Business coming soon!

Southern Kernels Gourmet Popcorn is coming soon to the 500 block of Central Avenue. This savory and sweet popcorn shop will offer a selection of over 20 flavors. We are excited to add another business to our downtown community and hope you will join us in welcoming them!
