Hey there, Laurel Main Street fans! We've got some exciting news to share with you today. The board of directors has just added a new member, and she's bringing a whole lot of talent and enthusiasm to the team. Please give a warm welcome to Becca McAlpin, the new Promotions Committee Chair!
Now, let me tell you a little bit about Becca. She's a go-getter who knows a thing or two about communication and public relations. Becca is a proud graduate of Stringer Attendance Center, Class of 2013. After high school, she continued her education at Mississippi State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations in 2017. Talk about a communication powerhouse!
But Becca's not just book-smart; she's got some impressive professional experience under her belt as well. She started her journey in the world of communications as an intern with Sanderson Farms in 2016, working in their Communications department. Since then, she's been a valued member of the Sanderson Farms (now Wayne-Sanderson Farms) team. Becca has held various positions, from Beginning Trainee to Field Employee Relations Trainee, and for the past 3.5 years, she's been rocking it as a Retail Marketing Product & Regulatory Specialist. In this role, Becca acts as a liaison between sales, customers, quality control, and processing facilities, ensuring that company, brand, and product information is disseminated effectively. She's a pro at managing the company's product portfolio and centralized labeling system.
But wait, there's more! Becca is not just all work and no play. She's been an active volunteer for Laurel Main Street since 2019, serving on the organization and promotions committee. That means she knows the ins and outs of our beloved downtown area and has been working hard to make it even better. On top of that, she's also the Public Relations Chair for the Friends of the Jones County Library System. Talk about dedication to the community!
When Becca isn't busy rocking her professional and volunteer roles, she's enjoying her personal life. She recently tied the knot with her high school sweetheart in 2021, and they're excitedly planning a move to the Laurel area, specifically the West Jones area. Becca loves staying active and can often be found at New State Crossfit in North Laurel, pushing her limits and staying fit. And let's not forget her love for reading—she's a member of multiple book clubs and can always recommend a great read.
With Becca's passion for community, her expertise in communications, and her dedication to making Laurel shine, we're confident that she'll be an incredible asset as the Promotions Committee Chair. Her fresh ideas and energy will undoubtedly bring even more excitement and creativity to our beloved Main Street.
So, join us in welcoming Becca McAlpin to the board of directors! We can't wait to see what she'll accomplish and how she'll help us make Laurel an even more vibrant and thriving community. Cheers to Becca and all the amazing things to come!
